Outdoor Adventures & Team-Building Experiences

The Peak Centre offers a diverse programme of outdoor and indoor activities designed to support team building, personal growth, and plain old-fashioned fun. Whether you’re a school group, youth club, church retreat or family gathering, our activities are tailored to suit different ages, abilities, and group goals. 

We’re licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS licence no. R0642) for: 

  • Single-pitch rock climbing 
  • Abseiling 
  • Hillwalking 

Our instructors are qualified, experienced, and excellent at adapting sessions to suit your group’s needs. You can also run your own self-led activities using our facilities and equipment.

Activities at a Glance

Climbing Wall

Test your head for heights on our indoor climbing wall – ideal for building confidence and coordination in a safe, controlled setting. 

Archery

Available both indoors and outdoors, archery is a firm favourite for groups of all abilities. Learn focus, control and have fun while hitting the target. 

Walking & Navigation

Explore the hills, valleys and moors of the surrounding Peak District directly from our doorstep. 

  • We provide route cards, maps and safety advice 
  • Our instructors can guide you on Kinder Scout and other iconic walks 
  • Ideal for DofE training or casual group rambles 

Rock Climbing

Full—or half-day sessions at nearby gritstone crags are suitable for beginners and those seeking a new challenge. All equipment is provided. 

Abseiling

Experience the thrill of abseiling from a dramatic 90ft disused railway viaduct. Available on its own or as part of a climbing day. 

Tai Chi

This is a fun and challenging activity that combines focus, agility and discipline. It is a great leveller for groups of all ages. 

Circus Skills

Try your hand at juggling, plate spinning, devil sticks, stilts and more. This light-hearted session encourages creativity, teamwork, and lots of laughter. 

Orienteering

  • Off-site Orienteering: A half-day adventure on nearby rugged terrain (30-minute walk away) 
  • Mini-Orienteering: A great self-led activity on our grounds – perfect for younger groups or a pre-dinner challenge 

Flexible Programming

You’re in control. Choose a fully guided programme, mix-and-match instructor-led sessions with self-led options, or simply use the Centre as a base for your own activities. We’re here to support you in achieving the aims of your stay. Visit Nexen
